Negative Space
Negative Space
2026.
Copper plate etching and aquatint.
The two prints, The Sun and Total Eclipse, form the piece Negative Space. Designed to be viewed in negative, the prints were created in response to the recent 2026 total solar eclipse.
Two 12.5 × 12.5 cm etched copper plates, hand-printed onto white 33 × 18 cm Somerset Satin etching paper. Each print is named, numbered, and signed by Daniel Connolly for authenticity. The plates will be scored upon completion of the full edition to prevent further reproduction.
This is a limited edition of 30 prints, with 5 held back for gallery and market sale. Due to the nature of the inking, wiping, and printing process, each print will vary slightly. Printing of the full edition is currently in progress, so please allow approximately three-four weeks for delivery from the date of order, notably for overseas shipping. This allow the impression suitable time to dry prior to postage. Orders will be packaged within a postal tube.
The entire process, from start to finish, took approximately 30 hours, and the video can be viewed via my linked social media accounts.
This is an artist interpretation of the Sun and the 2026 eclipse, and is not affiliated with NASA.
